The aim for the committee of soil management is to find systems of tillage, structural improvement and establishment of crops that can sustainably provide a high yield at a low cost for agriculture. To reduce the environmental impact, reduce soil compaction and increase fertility are further objectives. With this application we seek basic funding for two field trials. An experimental series will investigate the establishment of winter oilseed rapes with strategies for combating snails (Deroceras reticulatum) and in the second series, a comparison will be made between systems for reduced tillage with conventional tillage.
The aim of the committee of cropping systems is to, together with other subject committees, find cropping systems that makes better use of ecosystem services and where the profitable production of cultivated plants can be done with less environmental impact and consumption of resources than in today's conventional and organic farming.
