In this suggested project, we wish to implement, initiate, and establish long-term management of a web-based decision-support system for integrated pest management in Swedish apple orchards. The system provides support regarding the precision required when modern selective pesticides are used for pest control, where precise timing and choice of pesticide have profound effects on crop volume and quality. It operates under local Swedish conditions, and synchronically handles seven tortricidae species (incl. Codling moth) and one tenthredinidae species (Apple sawfly). Our objective is to maximise the effect of selective pest control while simultaneously minimising the total amount of pesticides. In addition, we wish to study how the decision-support system is received by the apple-farmers, in order to adjust and further develop its functionalities.
