The aim of this project is to take different actors perspectives in describing the process through which Yara N-sensor went from a decision support system used by a few early adopters to a well-known sensor used by extension services and authorities as a base for fertilisation recommendations during 1998 – 2016. During the winter 2015/2016 more Yara N-sensors than ever before were sold and K. Nissen, responsible for the sensor in the Nordic countries said: this year the stopper seems to have gone out … but as a single company you would never manage this on your own. This project aims to investigate how different factors have worked together over time to support the implementation, which solely has been seen in Sweden. The sensor will be used as a case study and theories as diffusion of innovation and extension science will be used to understand what is required in order to get technologies widely adopted. The project will use a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.

A primary reason for unhealthy legs and claws are unsuitable floor properties in dairy houses,
which may result in slippery floors and slip injuries to cows and mastitis.
The hygiene of a floor surface and floor properties affect the cow claw/floor interaction and gait.
The aim is to determine an …

In Sweden, thousands of hectares of agricultural land are not being actively used for agricultural production. Some
reasons are small and irregular-shaped fields, low soil fertility, distant fields, etc. These so-called marginal fields are
often non-profitable and they may be abandoned in the …

Development of resistance to anthelmintics is a threat to equine welfare. As with antibiotics, restrictive use with anthelmintics in order to retain the effect is essential. Current recommendation for deworming is targeted selective treatment to individuals shedding a certain amount of parasite …

Mineral nutrients applied as seed dressing is an unexplored potential in Swedish crop production. Autumn and spring are often unfavorable for germination with cold and wet climate, especially in central Sweden. Under such climate conditions, seed dressing with mineral nutrients may improve …

The basis for sustainable dairy production is set in the newborn heifer calf. Earlier research has demonstrated that weight gain and health during early life influence the adult calf's production capacity, partly an effect of nutrition. Probably the microbiota in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) …

Global livestock production must be intensified to meet the demand from a growing human population. However, this must not be at the expense of reduced animal health and deteriorated animal welfare. Infection with parasitic worms of ruminants is a major constraint on an efficient pasture-based …
