Automation technology is developing rapidly, not least in agriculture. Several of the biggest challenges in vehicular automation technology, such as complex interactions with other road users, are less problematic for agricultural vehicles than for road vehicles. There is therefore potential for comparatively rapid development and market introduction.
The purpose of this project is to develop important elements for automation of field work for plant cultivation and verify them in real operation on an existing agricultural machine. This includes, in addition to control systems for vehicle propulsion, also control of implements, security, computer communication and interfaces with other hardware and software. The goal is to make open source code available for systems that can be used as a software platform for autonomous agricultural vehicles, which can then be used to develop systems that are increasingly powerful, cheap and environmentally friendly plant cultivation systems.

All horses grazing freely are at risk of parasitic diseases. Due to a growing problem with drug resistance in parasites, there is a need to improve the diagnostic methods. One important problem with today's situation is that one diagnostic procedure costs significantly more than one treatment, both …

The alarming development of triple resistant Parascaris spp. is an increasing threat to foal health and the equine industry, due to the risk of increasing veterinary costs and loss of foals. A continued development of triple resistant roundworms in Sweden would be devastating for foals and …

Harness racing is hazardous as horses are running in close proximity at high speeds. Thus, an effective communication between driver and jockey-horse via rein signals to the bit is essential for safety reasons and horse welfare. However, scientific studies on rein tension in Standardbred trotters …

Just going to the bathroom is contributing to algae blooms and climate change. Sweden alone releases roughly 15400 tonnes of N and 240 tonnes of P into lakes, rivers and seas, through municipal wastewater (including after treatment). Urine contains 80% of the plant nutrients found in wastewater and …

Heat stress is expected to be of major concern in Swedish animal production systems in the future. The air temperatures in parts of Sweden are expected to correspond to today's temperatures in southern Europe, where livestock experience heat stress today. Excessive thermal load affects the welfare …

Poultry have a strong motivation for foraging and spend most of the day pecking and searching for food. In commercial conditions, the birds are fed a pellet diet, which is consumed very quickly. Consequently, hens spend a large part of the day engaging in abnormal non-food related pecking …
