Sammanfattning av projektet på engelska
The aim of the project is that by maintaining the "lowest reasonable level" and implement large scale marker assistance of the existing plant breeding program of potato at SLU Alnarp improve opportunities to develop new food potato varieties with durable resistance to late blight and thereby contribute to the possibilities to reduce the use of fungicides, alternatively, be able to cultivate varieties organic. The program has been given the opportunity to design its present level mainly thanks to funds from SLF 2013-2014. Swedish potato growers can then be offered a Swedish alternative to the varietal range, with mainly foreign breeding background, today available on the market. Current growing season almost 10,000 first year crosses will be evaluated in the field, the program has access to molecular markers for several late blight resistance genes, and several promising clones for up to 6 years of selections is evaluated at three premises.

Normal joint function is important for animal welfare as it is a prerequisite for a mobile life without pain. Joint inflammation, often a sequel of osteochondrosis, commonly located in the stifle in beef bulls can have a substantial impact on the fertility of beef sires.
