We will evaluate the adaption of a concept for nitrogen extraction from waste streams, developed by EasyMining, applied to biogas digestate to produce an ammonium sulfate fertilizer and dilution water. The concept can contribute to increased production of biogas via extended digestion of nitrogen-rich agricultural biomasses. There are good conditions for achieving profitability because only parts of the digestate is processed and the water produced is used to dilute the digester instead of costly municipal water. This reduces the amount of digestate to handle, which leads to lower costs. The evaluation consists of:
• characterize digestate and investigate the need for adjusting the digestate for nitrogen extraction
• further processing of the fertilizer
• study how the concept can be integrated into the biogas plant More Biogas which will expand the digestion of nitrogen-rich solid manure
• study how the fertilizer is best used by farmers
• carry out an economic evaluation

In modern large-scale pig production, first-rate hygienic conditions are necessary to avoid outbreaks of diseases and promote and maintain a good biosecurity, However, evaluation of pen hygiene is highly subjective. The project aims to adapt and evaluate a new method for the standardised measure of …

Heat stress is expected to be of major concern in Swedish animal production systems in the future. The air temperatures in parts of Sweden are expected to correspond to today's temperatures in southern Europe, where livestock experience heat stress today. Excessive thermal load affects the welfare …
