The aim of the project is to find ways to profitable and, thus, growing and economically sustainable Swedish lamb meat production using an expert panel of lamb producers, advisors and researchers. The project results in a number of suggestions for measures that can improve farm profitability, which are communicated to the industry through e.g. a web-based education material. Hence, the project creates conditions for more lamb entrepreneurs to be able to make a living on raising lambs, which contributes to the fulfilment of the Swedish food strategy to increase production and create growth and employment throughout the country as well as consumers' increased demand for Swedish lamb. Increased lamb production on i.e. semi-natural pasture would also contribute to meeting the Swedish environmental quality objectives “A Varied Agricultural Landscape” and “A Rich Diversity of Plant and Animal Life”.
