Insufficient crop protection is an increasingly limiting factor for crop production. Damage by slugs and cabbage stem flea beetles in winter oilseed rape are timely examples of increasing crop protection problems in Sweden. We will test whether companion cropping winter oilseed rape with frost sensitive legumes can reduce slug and flea beetle damage. We will further test how slugs can be suppressed and their natural enemies (carabid beetles) enhanced in winter oilseed rape established with no- or low-till methods. The long term population development of cabbage stem flea beetles, its drivers and management options will be analyzed using an already digitized extensive database (1969-2018, 2889 winter oilseed rape fields). With a combination of field observations and experiments, laboratory studies, and analyses of extant data, our overall aim is to promote crop protection when establishing winter oilseed rape by developing effective integrated pest management options.

Icelandic horses are increasingly popular in Sweden and Norway. Their strength lies in their unique gaits, however, in lame horses this trait becomes a weakness. Evaluating not only lameness but also the leg of origin for lameness in any gait other than trot is exceptionally challenging. Today, we …

Slippery floors results in falls and injuries which can be fatal. Moreover, on dairy farms slippery floors impede oestrus behaviour and ease of heat detection and as result cause economical losses due to impaired fertility. Grooving is the most common way to treat concrete floors to reduce …
