The Secretariat is responsible for generating basic data for SLF’s decision-making and for implementing the decisions reached. Researchers submit their applications to the Secretariat, where they are registered and passed on to the relevant Planning Committee. When the Committee has reached a decision, the Secretariat contacts the researchers with details of contracts, payments or letters of rejection.

The Secretariat is responsible for communications with farmers, advisors and funding agencies. The communications strategies include management of the website, the publication of newsletters presenting current research and attendance at trade fairs.
